Our history

Dentist Antonis Viazis begins his postgraduate studies in orthodontics at the University of Minnesota in the United States and realizes that in order to straighten the teeth in about a year, the root and the root of the teeth must move at the same time.

1987

Antonis Viazis becomes an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota and starts working with GAC on clinical applications of the new superelastic wires. The following year he is awarded the teacher of the year award, and moves to Dallas, Texas, having been hired as an assistant professor at Baylor University. He wins this position after an international competition.

1989

Assistant Professor of Orthodontics Antonis Viazis is working on a new type of orthodontic hook that will allow the superelastic wires to move the entire tooth in one stage.

1991

The first patients, Andy and Kelly, begin orthodontic treatment with the new type of orthodontic bracket.

1992

The first clinical results are presented at the annual conference of the American Federation of Orthodontics. Antonis Viazis begins giving presentations and seminars at universities and orthodontic federations in the United States, Europe and South America. His first book is published. It quickly becomes a best seller.

1993

The new type of orthodontic anchor, on which the FASTBRACES® system will be based, is patented in the United States. Antonis Viazis becomes an associate professor at the University of Southern California, and teaches his new orthodontic system to graduate students.In the years that follow, he becomes an honorary professor at the University of São Paulo in Brazil.

1994

The first clinical and research results were published in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics in the United States and the Journal of Stoma in Europe around the same time. Antonis Viazis leaves his academic career in order to devote himself to the development of his orthodontic system.

1995

The first FASTBRACES® clinic opens in Plano, Texas. Research at the University of Southern California confirms Antonis Viazis’ initial observations. Makes a large number of television appearances on news and information shows on both local and national television stations.

1996

The second FASTBRACES® clinic opens in Lewisville, Texas near Vista Ridge Mall.

1997

The third and fourth FASTBRACES® clinic opens. University studies confirming the characteristics of the FASTBRACES® system are announced by the University of Cuomo in Finland and the University of São Paulo in Brazil. Antonis Viazis files a lawsuit against the American Federation of Orthodontists and others in the US Federal Court.

1998

Further research is published in Europe on the effectiveness of the hooks used in the FASTBRACES® system in the Journal of Orofacial Orthopedics. Professor Antonis Viazis receives the Brazilian Orthodontics Gold Medal , given annually to an orthodontist from around the world for his contribution to the advancement of orthodontics.

1999

Finally, research is published in the USA regarding the effectiveness of the orthodontic hooks used in the FASTBRACES® system in the American Journal of Orthodontics

2000

The FASTBRACES® Orthodontic Clinic Chain is the best-known chain of orthodontic clinics in the state of Texas. More and more dentists from various states in the US and from around the world are being trained and becoming providers of FASTBRACES® technology.

2003-2012

Thousands of dentists become providers of FASTBRACES® Orthodontic Technology. FASTBRACES® Orthodontic Technology is the proud sponsor of the 2014 Dental Expo in Birmingham, UK and is expanding to Australia and New Zealand. Antonis Viazis speaks in front of nearly 1,000 doctors in the Philippines. FASTBRACES® technology is available on all continents around the world. As FASTBRACES® Orthodontic Technology celebrates the 30th anniversary of the first scientific publication by inventor Anthony Viazis in 1986, the amazing new FASTBRACES® TURBO™ product line is introduced. Today, FASTBRACES® Orthodontic Technology is offered in over 50 countries; presentations of the system are now held every week, all over the world.

2013-present
